Named After the Mark That Connects
Hyphen Strategies was born from a simple observation: high-stakes location decisions rarely fail because of bad data. They fail in the space between insight and action — where timelines, infrastructure, and stakeholder misalignment collide.
We exist to bridge that gap. Public and private. Data and decision. Vision and reality.

Devin Hillsdon-Smith
An economic developer turned site selector, Devin brings 15+ years of experience on both sides of the table. That dual perspective is Hyphen's core advantage — anticipating stakeholder motivations, constraints, and priorities that others miss.
He hosts the "Site Selectors Are People, Too" podcast, exploring the human side of economic development with raw, unfiltered conversations about the profession — from mental health and resilience to the mechanics of high-stakes decisions.
Devin serves on the board of the Indiana Economic Development Association and the board of directors for a certified Indiana tech park near Crane. He's a licensed real estate broker and has completed all CEcD coursework.
